Sessions for U9-U11 players are one hour, gender specific. These sessions are an introduction to goalie skills and allow players to explore the position. Participants tend to vary each week.

Sessions for U12-U14 is mixed gender and are typically for our more dedicated and more full-time keepers and include a progressive learning agenda. The U12-U14 age group does not exclude players who want to explore this position, but it does provide greater development opportunities for those goalies who tend to find themselves in goal more often (remember, our Club expects players to rotate through positions, and goalie is included in this rotation, see MSC Coach Expectations for specifics).

The U12-U14 goalies should try and attend the sessions every week to fully develop their skills.

Please note that based on the development stage of our U8 players and the guidelines and recommendations of soccer governing bodies, our U8 players are NOT a part of goalie training.

Players have development windows where they need to learn specific movement skills.  Youth training is critical for motor pattern development, i.e. – developing proper fundamental movement patterns. If these physical skills are not acquired, or are not fully developed, this might impede an athletes future growth.

AGES 8-12

During this stage of a childs development, it is important that they are active in a program to develop overall fitness. It is crucial that athletes are developing or have developed the proper skills and motor patterns demanded of them in sports. If they fall behind in developing physically they may fail to develop physical literacy prior to their growth spurt, hindering them to develop sport specific skills later on in life. KEY FOCUS: Children (6-9 years old) need to be pushed to master fundamental movement skills prior to sport specific skills are introduced. Basic motor skill development, conditioning, strength, endurance and flexibility training need to be developed throughout their training programs to build a great foundation. Athletes (10-12 years old) are to continue developing motor skills, conditioning, strength, endurance, and flexibility while further developing speed mechanics and skills.

AGES 12-15

This is a major fitness development stage. As athletes begin their growth spurt and their bodies are changing, fitness programs need to be administered and adapt according to this specific time in their lives as certain growth spurts can impede on performance if not addressed properly. KEY FOCUS: Solidify the athletes foundation in speed, agility, deceleration, strength, jumping, aerobic fitness and anaerobic fitness. As this process progresses, it is important to advance the athletes through a program designed to further push them and prepare them for the competitive stages of sports.

This is a 10 week program that provides flexibility for players to train 1 or 2 times a week for one hour on days that best fit their schedule.

Classes must have a minimum and maximum number of students.
